What is HDPE?
HDPE is not an ordinary plastic. It is made out of highly pressured treated polyethylene, and it is so tough that you can hardly bend it. In other words, its form is more stable than wood, and it is so dense that bacteria can hardly penetrate through or find room to stay, however, knives can still leave marks on the surface, where bacteria can find homes. Nevertheless, this is the best material in the plastic family to be used regarding sanitary conditions.
How to care for it?
Since the HDPE is a very stable material, it can be washed and stored anyway you like. Occasionally, you can use bleach to whiten and wash out any hidden bacteria and stain, making sure to rinse thoroughly. The other option which is more healthier, is to use a low grade sandpaper to rub against the surface, again wash it thoroughly.
Are the shapes of HDPE boards can only be in square or rectangle?
We can supply almost any shape in 2D. We do not need a big quantity to begin with, as we actually treat it the same as a wooden board. We can trim and carve it as our customer desires, they are usually 3/8" thick, but 1/2" and 1" thick can also be specially ordered.
