Maple / Birch

99% of our cutting boards are made from maple wood, with the remainder being made of birch. Due to their hardness and durability both woods have excellent cutting surfaces. "plus" the warmth and beauty that will enrich your kitchen. both these woods are grown in the provinces of Ontario and Quebec.

Environmental Friendly

Since the sizes of most cutting boards are considered very short in the wood industry, we actually buy off-cut material from our suppliers. As they consider these shorts as a waste, we purchase them and in turn, help to maximize the use of our natural resources.

How to make it?

We join different sizes of small strips of wood together with a non-toxic and water soluble glue. We then sand the top and bottom to a flat and smooth surface. These small strips of wood become a panel, on which we trim and carve with a high-tech machine to achieve a desirable profile of a cutting board. We then dip the board in mineral oil and hang to dry. It is then finally wrapped and sealed in shrink wrap.

Are they healthy to use?

Yes! In fact amongst all the different materials used for cutting boards, wood is the best and healthiest to use. According to some university researches, wood has a natural ability to reduce the growth of bacteria on it's surface. The oil applied on the surface of the wood can also minimize the life of any bacteria.
